🎓 For Students
How do I sign up as a student?
Click "Register" → Fill in your email, name, and password. → Select "Student" as your role You can optionally add skills, availability, and verify your student ID later in your profile.
Is StuGig really free for students?
Yes! Creating an account, posting gigs, and applying for jobs is currently free for everyone during our Beta phase. We may introduce optional premium features for faster hiring in the future.
What types of gigs are available?
We have 7 categories: Tutoring (homework help, test prep), Events & Hospitality(event support, guest management), Delivery & Errands (local deliveries, campus errands),On-Campus Help (club support, booth staffing), Content & Design (social media, basic editing), Tech Assistance (device setup, troubleshooting), and Others.
Why do I need to write a 100+ character message when applying?
This ensures quality over quantity. Employers receive intentional applications from students who are genuinely interested. It helps you stand out by explaining why you're a good fit for the gig.
How do I get paid?
Payment happens directly between you and the employer. Common methods: UPI (Google Pay, PhonePe),bank transfer, or cash. Always confirm payment terms before starting work. StuGig does not handle payments.
Can I apply to multiple gigs at once?
Yes! You can apply to as many gigs as you want. However, only commit to gigs you can realistically complete. Frequent cancellations may affect your profile credibility.
What if an employer doesn't pay me?
Report the employer immediately via the in-app report button. We investigate all reports and may ban employers who don't honor payment agreements.
How do I withdraw an application?
You can't withdraw a application after applying, but you can communicate with the employer in the chat to let them know if your plans change. Frequent withdrawals may affect your profile credibility, so please apply only to gigs you're sure about.
💼 For Employers
How do I post a gig?
Sign in → Click "Post a Job" → Fill in job title, category, description, pay, city, and number of people needed. Your gig goes live immediately after verification by our team. You can close the gig anytime from your profile.
How much does it cost to post gigs?
Free! No posting fees for now , no membership charges. You only pay the students you hire according to your agreed terms.
How do students apply?
Students write a message explaining why they're a good fit (minimum 100 characters) and submit their application. You'll receive a notification and can view applications in your dashboard.
Can I edit or close a gig after posting?
Yes! Go to your posted gigs → Click on the gig → mark as "Closed". Closing a gig stops new applications but existing chats remain accessible.
What if no one applies to my gig?
Check if: (1) Pay is competitive, (2) Description is clear and detailed, (3) Location/city is specified, (4) Category is correctly selected. You can also edit and repost with improvements.
How do I communicate with students?
All communication happens via secure in-app chat. Once a student applies, a private chat opens automatically. We don't share phone numbers to protect both parties from spam and harassment.
Can I hire multiple students for one gig?
Yes! Set "Number of People Required" when posting. You can accept multiple applications until you reach that number.
🔒 Privacy & Security
Is my personal information safe?
Yes. We use Firebase for data storage and Stream Chat for communication. We don't share your phone number or email with anyone. Read our Privacy Policy for details.
Why doesn't StuGig share phone numbers?
To protect users from unsolicited calls, spam, and harassment. All communication happens through our secure in-app chat, which also serves as proof in case of disputes.
How do I report a suspicious user or gig?
Click the "Report" button on any job post or chat. We investigate all reports within 24-48 hours.
Can I block someone?
Yes. In the chat, click the options menu → "Block User". They won't be able to contact you again.
⚙️ Technical & Account
I forgot my password. How do I reset it?
Go to Forgot Password → Enter your registered email → Check your inbox for reset instructions (check spam folder if needed).
Can I delete my account?
Use the in-app support options to request account deletion. We'll process your request within 48 hours.
The chat isn't loading. What do I do?
Try: (1) Refresh the page, (2) Clear browser cache, (3) Try a different browser. If the issue persists, use in-app support with screenshots.
Can I use StuGig on mobile?
Yes! StuGig is fully responsive and works on all devices. We don't have a native app yet, but the website works perfectly on mobile browsers.
