Safety Guidelines
Your safety is our top priority. StuGig connects students with local gig opportunities, and we want every interaction to be secure and professional. Please follow these guidelines.
🛡️ Before Accepting a Gig
- Research the Employer: Check their profile, previous gig postings, and reviews from other students.
- Ask Questions: Use in-app chat to clarify job details, payment terms, and work expectations.
- Trust Your Instincts: If something feels off, don't proceed. Report suspicious listings.
- Verify Details: Confirm the location, timing, and nature of work before committing.
📍 Meeting in Person
- Public First Meetings: Always meet employers in public places (cafés, campus common areas) for the first time.
- Bring a Friend: If possible, bring someone along or inform friends/family about your whereabouts.
- Daytime Meetings: Schedule initial meetings during daylight hours in well-populated areas.
- Share Your Location: Use phone tracking features to share your live location with trusted contacts.
💰 Payment Safety
- No Upfront Fees: NEVER pay "registration fees," "training costs," or any advance payment to employers.
- Get It in Writing: Confirm payment terms, amount, and schedule via in-app chat before starting work.
- Secure Payment Methods: Use UPI, bank transfers, or cash. Avoid unverified payment apps.
- Report Non-Payment: If an employer doesn't pay as agreed, report them immediately through the app.
🚨 Red Flags - Report Immediately
- Employer asks for personal documents (Aadhaar, PAN) before hiring
- Job description is vague or changes after you accept
- Employer pressures you to meet in private/isolated locations
- Requests for inappropriate photos or personal favors
- Promises of "easy money" with minimal work
- Employer insists on communicating outside the app
💬 Communication Safety
- Use In-App Chat: Keep all communication within StuGig for your protection and record-keeping.
- No Phone Sharing: We don't share your phone number to prevent unsolicited calls and harassment.
- Professional Tone: Maintain respectful communication. Block and report abusive users.
- Document Everything: In-app chat history serves as proof if disputes arise.
